Terms of Service

By accessing or using Global Ethnic Map (the “Service”) you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Global Ethnic Map is a social experiment that aggregates user opinions about perceived ethnic distribution across countries. Vote counts and percentages reflect the subjective input of visitors and are not a statement of fact, an official demographic statistic, or a scientific census. Nothing on this Service should be used as authoritative information about any country, population, or group.

You agree not to:

• use automated systems (bots, scripts, scrapers) to submit votes or extract data;
• attempt to circumvent the anti-abuse measures (fingerprinting, rate limits, CAPTCHA, single-vote rules);
• submit custom tags containing hate speech, slurs, harassment, personal information, advertising, or content that is illegal under the laws applicable to you;
• attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying infrastructure;
• use the Service in a way that violates applicable laws or third-party rights.

All custom tags are reviewed by a human moderator before they appear publicly. Rejected tags do not contribute to vote aggregates and are not displayed.

The Service’s code, design, copy, and curated ethnicity list are © Global Ethnic Map. The world map geometry is derived from open data under public-domain or permissive licenses. User submissions (votes, custom tags) are licensed to us under a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display and aggregate them as part of the Service.

The Service may display advertisements served by third parties, including Google AdSense. We are not responsible for the content of advertisements or for any transaction you enter into with an advertiser.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, non-infringement, or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the aggregated results reflect any objective reality.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages arising out of or in connection with your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, reputational damage, or business interruption, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service, in whole or in part, at any time and for any reason, including violations of these Terms. We may also remove or modify any content at our sole discretion.

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Italy, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from or related to these Terms shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Rome, Italy, except where mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence apply.

We may update these Terms at any time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
